Observations from Mets spring training on Friday:
Steady Benge
Carson Benge went 1-for-4 with an RBI single in the Mets’ 8-3 victory over the Nationals, boosting his spring OPS to .858 as he competes for the starting right field position. In contrast, lefty reliever Bryan Hudson struggled, allowing two earned runs in two-thirds of an inning. Clay Holmes impressed with eight groundouts in five innings against the Marlins. Tomorrow, Freddy Peralta is set to pitch against the Astros.
