The Texas Rangers claimed outfielder Dairon Blanco off waivers from the Kansas City Royals, placing left-hander Jordan Montgomery on the 60-day injured list to accommodate him. Blanco, a 32-year-old Cuban, has a .257 batting average with 7 home runs and 34 RBIs across 171 major league games, and he led the majors with 64 pinch-running appearances since 2022. Montgomery, who recently signed with the Rangers, had a strong performance in the 2023 World Series but is recovering from elbow surgery. Over his eight MLB seasons, Montgomery has a 46-41 record and a 4.03 ERA.
