Observations from Yankees spring training on Wednesday
Big blast
Ben Rice hit his first home run of the spring, a 412-foot shot off Red Sox reliever Justin Slaten, clocking in at 108.8 mph. He also made an impressive diving stop at first base, although the umpire ruled an out was missed. In another highlight, shortstop Braden Shewmake executed a critical diving catch and a double play. The Yankees will host the Twins on Thursday, with Paul Blackburn starting.
