Observations from Mets spring training on Sunday:
Two For Taylor
Tyrone Taylor hit his second home run of the spring, showcasing solid defensive capability, although his role on the team remains uncertain with competition for outfield positions. Right-hander Jack Wenninger, the Mets’ No. 11 prospect, struggled, walking five batters and allowing two runs in 1 ²/₃ innings during a 4-3 win. Carson Benge, despite going hitless, impressed with a 110 mph grounder and a strong throw to third base. The Mets have a day off before facing Team Nicaragua on Tuesday in preparation for the WBC.
