The Buffalo Sabres will be without winger Zach Benson as he is sidelined due to an undisclosed issue, separate from a previous upper-body injury, according to head coach Lindy Ruff. Benson, who was performing well with 26 points in 42 games, sustained an injury during a game against the Florida Panthers. In his absence, top prospect Konsta Helenius has stepped in, showing promise despite not maintaining his initial scoring pace. Upon Benson’s return, competition for ice time will intensify among several forwards, including Helenius, Isak Rosen, Tyson Kozak, and Beck Malenstyn.
