Former MLB player Robinson Chirinos is returning to the Baltimore Orioles as a special assistant in baseball operations and player development after a tumultuous coaching stint as bench coach in 2025. Following his retirement in May 2023, Chirinos briefly worked under manager Brandon Hyde, who was fired mid-season, leading to coaching changes. With the hiring of new manager Craig Albernaz, Chirinos was let go from the bench coach role but will now focus on mentoring young prospects. His new position will allow him to influence the franchise’s development strategy while working with players at lower levels.
