Los Angeles Dodgers utility man Tommy Edman will miss opening day due to offseason ankle surgery. Manager Dave Roberts confirmed Edman is currently engaged in light workouts but won’t be ready for spring training or the regular season. Edman, who underwent surgery in November to repair a ligament and remove bone spurs, acknowledges that while he hopes to return quickly, opening day is an aggressive goal. With Edman sidelined, Kiké Hernández will serve as a solid utility player, and the Dodgers may use a platoon at second base until his return.
