MLB’s Automated Ball Strike Challenge System
Major League Baseball is implementing a new Automated Ball Strike Challenge System this season, which will not display definitive ball or strike indications on broadcasts to prevent exploitation of the system. Instead, the on-screen strike zone box will only show pitch locations, with the challenge initiated by players tapping their heads. This system, already tested in the minors, aims to maintain the integrity of pitch calls, allowing only players to challenge without external assistance.
