The Seattle Mariners announced that left-hander Jhonathan Díaz has been outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma after clearing waivers, following his designation for assignment due to the acquisition of Cooper Criswell. At 29, Díaz has limited big league experience, totaling 46 1/3 innings with a 4.66 ERA. Despite having solid minor league numbers, he faces stiff competition for a rotation spot in Seattle. Díaz has the option to elect free agency, but may choose to remain with the Mariners for added depth.
