Former MLB pitcher Wilbur Wood passed away at 84 in Burlington, Massachusetts. Over a 17-year career, he played for the Red Sox, Pirates, and notably the White Sox, making four All-Star teams and achieving four 20-win seasons. Wood set records in 1972 for innings pitched (376 ⅔) and starts (49), both of which remain unmatched. After retiring in 1978, he worked in the pharmaceutical industry.
