As the NHL’s Board of Governors met in December, concerns arose about the Olympic hockey arena in Milan, which was reportedly built to incorrect dimensions and was unfinished just two months before the tournament. Deputy commissioner Bill Daly emphasized player safety, stating that if the ice conditions were deemed unsafe, participation would be reconsidered. Despite these issues, stakeholders remain optimistic, with IIHF president Luc Tardif confirming that the tournament will proceed. However, concerns about the fan experience and arena infrastructure persist, as the seating capacity has been reduced from 14,012 to 11,800.
