The San Francisco Giants have signed catcher Eric Haase to a minor league contract with a potential $1.6MM salary if he makes the MLB roster. Haase, who played last season primarily in Triple-A after backing up William Contreras, has eight years of MLB experience but is seen as a fringe defender. With Patrick Bailey expected to be the primary catcher, the Giants also have Daniel Susac and Jesus Rodriguez as additional options on the 40-man roster. Susac, a former first-round pick, must remain on the MLB roster or be returned to the A’s, while Rodriguez performed well in the upper minors.
