The Kansas City Chiefs waived quarterback Shane Buechele and released defensive back Tanner McCalister from their practice squad. In addition, the Chiefs signed four players to futures contracts: linebacker Kam Arnold, defensive tackle Marcus Harris, wide receiver Jimmy Holiday, and tackle Matt Waletzko. Buechele, who had a notable college career at SMU and Texas, signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2021 and has since had multiple roster changes. His career stats include a 63.1% completion rate with over 11,600 passing yards and 87 touchdowns.
