PAUL, Minn. — In their final game before the Christmas break, the Minnesota Wild (22-10-6) suffered a 3-2 overtime loss to the Nashville Predators (16-16-4), marking a franchise record as they reached 50 points in a season for the first time at the holiday break. After initially scoring, Minnesota allowed two power-play goals before Joel Eriksson Ek tied the game, but Steven Stamkos scored the game-winner in overtime. Despite the loss, the Wild have been strong lately with a 19-4-3 record since November 1st, ranking third in the NHL during that span. Filip Gustavsson expressed confidence, stating they need to continue winning after the break to maintain their position.
