The Pittsburgh Pirates have signed All-Star first baseman/outfielder Ryan O’Hearn to a $29 million, two-year contract to enhance their struggling offense. O’Hearn, who had a career-best 2025 season with a .281 average, 17 home runs, and 63 RBIs, marks the Pirates’ first multi-year free agent signing since 2016. This acquisition follows the recent trade for two-time All-Star second baseman Brandon Lowe, as Pittsburgh aims to build around a strong pitching staff. O’Hearn’s versatility will allow him to play both first base and the outfield, providing options alongside existing players like Spencer Horwitz and Bryan Reynolds.
