The Guardians have signed outfielder Stuart Fairchild to a minor league deal with a non-roster invite to MLB Spring Training. Fairchild, who turns 30 in March, was a second-round pick by the Reds in 2017 and has played parts of three MLB seasons, notably with the Reds, where he had a .232/.316/.403 slash line. After a brief stint with the Braves, he was DFA’d and subsequently cleared waivers, leading to his free agency. The Guardians aim to bolster their right-handed outfield depth following the loss of Lane Thomas to the Royals, as their outfield struggled last season with an 87 wRC+, ranking 26th in the majors.
