The Mets signed Jorge Polanco to enhance their infield versatility, primarily expecting him to play at first base and DH this season. Although Polanco has limited big-league experience at first, he trained with Mariners infield coach Perry Hill to prepare for the transition. Hill noted that while Polanco needs to refine his skills, he is a dedicated worker and a great teammate. Polanco aims to fill the gap left by Pete Alonso’s move to the Orioles.
