The Diamondbacks have signed infielder Ildemaro Vargas to a new minor league contract, as reported by Jon Heyman. Vargas, a veteran utilityman with significant experience in the organization, played 38 games last season, hitting .270 with a .292 on-base percentage. Known for his defensive versatility, he predominantly played shortstop but also covered second and third base. As he enters his age-34 season, Vargas is expected to play for Triple-A Reno, alongside recent addition Jacob Amaya.
