The Washington Nationals have hired Ani Kilambi, the 31-year-old assistant general manager of the Philadelphia Phillies, as their next general manager, making him one of MLB’s youngest GMs. Kilambi joined the Phillies in 2021 after six seasons with the Rays, where he enhanced their research and development department significantly. This hiring follows the Nationals’ recent trend of appointing younger leaders, as they work to improve after finishing last in the National League East five of the last six seasons. The Phillies have yet to announce plans to fill Kilambi’s position.
