The San Diego Padres have hired former MLB reliever Craig Stammen as their 22nd manager on a three-year contract, succeeding retired Mike Shildt despite Stammen’s lack of managerial experience. With a team in win-now mode and 10 free agents, including key players Dylan Cease and Robert Suarez, Stammen will lead a strong pitching staff that previously ranked sixth in starter ERA and first in bullpen ERA in 2025.
