The San Francisco Giants outrighted infielder Osleivis Basabe to Triple-A Sacramento after designating him for assignment to promote catcher Logan Porter due to Patrick Bailey‘s injury. Basabe, who hasn’t played in the MLB for the Giants since being acquired from the Rays, has struggled offensively, posting a .242/.287/.352 slash line with four homers in 198 plate appearances this season, marking a continuation of his poor performance after a similar stint last year. At 24, Basabe is still young and could qualify for minor league free agency if not added back to the 40-man roster by season’s end.
