Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck has been awarded the Hart Trophy as NHL MVP and the Vezina Trophy for best goaltender, marking him as the first American netminder and the eighth goaltender overall to win the Hart. At 32, he had an impressive season with a .925 save percentage and went 47-12-3 in 63 games, leading the Jets to their first Presidents’ Trophy. Hellebuyck’s achievement also marks the first time a player from the Jets and Atlanta Thrashers franchise has won the Hart Trophy, following the last goalie winner, Carey Price, in 2015.
