The Boston Red Sox are promoting shortstop prospect Marcelo Mayer, ranked No. 2 in their organization and eighth in MLB, as reported by ESPN’s Jeff Passan. The 22-year-old is having a strong season in Triple-A Worcester, with a .271 batting average, .347 on-base percentage, .471 slugging percentage, nine home runs, and 43 RBIs in 43 games.
