This year’s NBA MVP announcement was delayed as Nikola Jokic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander faced off in the playoffs, but the winner will be revealed on Wednesday. Reports indicate that Gilgeous-Alexander will be named MVP after leading the league in scoring at 32.7 points per game and helping the Thunder achieve a 68-win season, while Jokic, a finalist, averaged a triple-double but fell short in voter support. With this win, Gilgeous-Alexander becomes the 11th player in NBA history to lead in scoring on a 60+ win team and continues the trend of foreign-born MVPs.
