The Detroit Lions have proposed a change to NFL playoff seeding that would allow Wild Card teams to be ranked higher than Division Champions if they possess a better regular season record.
However, according to Mark Maske from the Washington Post, the proposal is considered a “long shot” to pass during the upcoming vote, as league sources express skepticism about its approval.
Currently, the top four playoff seeds are reserved for division winners, often resulting in teams with superior records being placed on the road during the playoffs.
