Veteran infielder Kolten Wong announced his retirement from professional baseball at the University of Hawaii, stating, “Pretty much right now, I’m done,” as he embraces fatherhood. Over an 11-season MLB career, Wong, drafted by the Cardinals in 2011, became known for his strong defensive skills and received two Gold Glove awards. He concluded his career with a .256/.330/.390 slash line, totaling 973 hits and earning down-ballot MVP consideration in 2019, before playing briefly for teams including the Dodgers and Mariners.
