The Giants have signed corner infielder Drew Ellis to a minor league deal, as announced by the Atlantic League’s Lexington Legends, where he began the season. Ellis, a former second-round pick by the Diamondbacks, has had limited big league experience, batting .134 in 97 plate appearances over parts of two seasons with Arizona, and recently played 12 games for the Phillies. He excelled in Lexington, hitting .373 with five home runs in 13 games, prompting his return to affiliated ball and maintaining a career .247/.365/.490 batting average in four Triple-A seasons.
