Pete Rose has been reinstated by Major League Baseball and is now eligible for the Baseball Hall of Fame after being banned in 1989 for betting on games while managing the Cincinnati Reds. The decision comes posthumously, as Rose passed away at 83 in September 2022, and follows discussions between MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred and former President Donald Trump regarding Rose’s status. Rose, baseball’s all-time hits leader with 4,256 hits, admitted to betting on his team in 2007, expressing regret over how his actions compromised the game’s integrity.
