New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr has announced his retirement due to a labral tear in his right shoulder and significant degenerative changes to his rotator cuff. The 34-year-old, who played 11 seasons in the NFL, had mixed results with the Saints after joining as a free agent in 2023, finishing with a 14-13 record as a starter. Carr’s decision, made with his wife’s input, follows unexpected pain during training and comes as the Saints drafted quarterback Tyler Shough, among others, for their future roster.
