The Atlanta Braves have designated right-hander Jesse Chavez for assignment to make room for right-hander Davis Daniel, who has been recalled from the minors. Chavez, 41, had a 6.00 ERA over three innings this season, while Daniel, a 2019 seventh-round pick, has a 5.06 ERA in 42 2/3 innings during his big league career. The Braves have a week to trade Chavez or pass him through waivers, and if he clears, he may reject an outright assignment and re-sign with Atlanta on a minor league deal for depth in the bullpen.
