The Braves have outrighted lefty José Suarez to Triple-A Gwinnett after designating him for assignment following the acquisition of Scott Blewett. Suarez, who joined the Braves from the Angels in a trade for Ian Anderson, made three appearances with a 6.56 ERA over the past three seasons and struggled with control, issuing seven walks in 30 batters faced. He opted to accept the assignment instead of free agency to retain his $1.1MM salary, aiming to return to the major leagues while becoming a minor league free agent at season’s end if not recalled.
