A three-star recruit and former South Carolina player, Sanders tallied 109 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss, and 9.5 sacks over four seasons, earning a second-to-third-round grade and ranking as the No. 9 defensive tackle by Dane Brugler of The Athletic. At 21 years old, he played in 39 games with 16 starts since committing to South Carolina out of Marion, SC.
