During an extended break for teams not advancing in the NBA Cup, LeBron James is taking time off from Lakers practice for personal reasons, with his absence excused by head coach JJ Redick. James missed Sunday’s game due to foot soreness, his first absence in 24 games this season, as the Lakers have struggled recently with seven losses in 10 games. Redick suggested that the break could be beneficial for James, who will turn 40 on Dec. 30, to rest and recover before their next game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday.
