Ajinkya Naik, President of Mumbai Cricket Association, announced the approval of a Rs 500-crore corpus fund to support grassroots cricket in Mumbai over the next decade during the AGM at Wankhede Stadium. The fund will be kept in fixed deposits, with the interest used to aid maidan clubs, school clubs, and college clubs for equipment, kits, facilities, and logistics. The MCA also plans to honour Mumbai legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Madhav Mantri, and Ajinkya Rahane at Wankhede Stadium, while aligning with the BCCI’s position on the National Sports Governance Act, 2025.
