Drafted by Montreal in 1976, he played in the WHA before spending six seasons in the NHL with Winnipeg, Toronto, and Detroit. Melrose later coached the Kings to the Stanley Cup Final in 1993 and became a prominent ESPN broadcaster for 27 years before retiring in 2023 due to Parkinson’s disease.
