Darnbrough, who joined in June 2025 after leaving Stoke City, departs as Port Vale currently sits at the bottom of League Two with just two points from five matches following their relegation from League One. The club has announced that Tommy Johnson and Martin Foyle will take over his responsibilities. Port Vale will play against Exeter City at home on September 12.
