The Padres have released right-handers J.P. France and José Leclerc, both of whom were on minor league contracts. France, 31, struggled with a 7.92 ERA over 10 2/3 innings after signing in August, following a brief but promising stint with the Astros in 2023. Leclerc, 33, aimed for a comeback after undergoing surgery for a lat strain but posted a 7.77 ERA across 24 1/3 innings in the Padres’ system. Both players will seek new opportunities in free agency for the 2027 season.
