Toronto Blue Jays All-Star closer Louis Varland secured his 32nd save in a 6-3 victory over the Cleveland Guardians, marking a pivotal series win. Tying with Tom Henke for the most saves in franchise history across the first 33 opportunities, Varland has only one blown save this season. He showcased his skills by stranding two baserunners and striking out Angel Genao in the ninth inning, while also achieving a career-high fastball velocity of 101.5 mph. This performance propelled the Blue Jays within half a game of the final AL wild-card spot.
