The Mariners are shifting struggling right-hander Bryce Miller to the bullpen in a “short-term” move as he faces challenges after a promising 2024 season. Despite a solid start this year with a 2.80 ERA, Miller has faltered recently, allowing four to six earned runs in each of his August starts, leading to a 9.00 ERA this month. General manager Justin Hollander expressed confidence in Miller’s ability to bounce back, while the team’s playoff hopes dwindle, currently sitting four games back in both the AL West and Wild Card races. Miller’s transition to the bullpen comes as the Mariners deal with potential injury concerns surrounding starter Emerson Hancock.
