The New York Yankees suffered a 9-7 loss to the Houston Astros despite holding three leads during the game. Pitcher Brent Headrick, who had been performing well, faltered in the eighth inning, allowing three runs and ultimately squandering a 6-5 lead. The Yankees’ bullpen struggled, with both Will Warren and Fernando Cruz unable to maintain leads, while Luis García Jr. contributed offensively with a two-run homer. The loss leaves the Yankees 3.5 games behind the Rays in the division and only 1.5 games ahead of the Red Sox for the wild card.
