Samuel Bruce “Sammy” Vick, born April 12, 1895, in Mississippi, played for the Yankees from 1917 to 1920. He had a promising start in the minors but saw his playing time diminish after the Yankees acquired Babe Ruth in 1919. Vick’s time with the Yankees ended with a trade to the Red Sox in 1920, where injuries hindered his performance, leading to a decline in his career. After baseball, he worked as a teacher and farmer, passing away in 1986 at age 91.
