The Seattle Kraken’s President of Hockey Operations, Ron Francis, is stepping down after one season, confirmed by the organization following a report by Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman. Francis, who previously served as General Manager for six seasons, oversaw a team that qualified for the 2023 Stanley Cup playoffs but has struggled with a 174-187-44 record since inception, hampered by questionable free agent signings and a lack of star talent. Jason Botterill will now have full control of the front office, potentially leading to a more aggressive strategy. Francis may be a candidate for the vacant position with the Toronto Maple Leafs, having previously played there.
