Kansas City Royals pitcher Cole Ragans exited Wednesday’s game against the Cleveland Guardians after being struck on the pitching hand by a comebacker from José Ramírez in the first inning. Despite a lengthy examination by manager Matt Quatraro and the athletic trainer, Ragans left the game after facing two more batters, one of whom, Chase DeLauter, hit a two-run double. The 28-year-old had previously struggled with injuries, making only 13 starts in 2025, but finished fourth in AL Cy Young voting in 2024.
