The Dallas Stars have extended general manager Jim Nill’s contract, ensuring he will not pursue other GM roles this offseason. Nill, who became GM in 2013, will soon be the second-longest-tenured GM in the NHL behind the Winnipeg Jets’ Kevin Cheveldayoff. Despite not winning a Stanley Cup, Nill is regarded as one of the top executives and has earned the NHL’s GM of the Year award three consecutive times. He has also contributed to Canada’s national team as an assistant GM.
