The Mariners have designated reliever Ryan Loutos for assignment to create space on the 40-man roster for Colt Emerson‘s extension, despite Emerson remaining in Triple-A. Loutos, 27, has not appeared in a regular season game for Seattle after being claimed from Washington, and he struggled in Spring Training with a 6.00 ERA over three innings. Throughout his MLB career, he has made 15 appearances with an ERA near 5.00. The Mariners have five days to trade or waive Loutos, who has a minor league option remaining.
