Jerry Jones, the Cowboys owner and GM, is attempting to negotiate directly with franchise-tagged receiver George Pickens, similar to his past efforts with linebacker Micah Parsons, which strained their relationship. Jones suggested that Pickens could save money by forgoing his agent, David Mulugheta, despite the risks involved in negotiating without professional assistance. While Parsons secured a lucrative contract with the Packers, Jones’s tactics raise concerns about undermining players’ relationships with agents, a practice the NFLPA has not yet addressed. As Jones may benefit financially from such negotiations, the NFLPA might consider revising fines in future collective bargaining agreements to deter these actions.
