The Seattle Mariners have signed top shortstop prospect Colt Emerson to an eight-year, $95-million contract extension, which includes a ninth-year club option, a full no-trade clause, and performance escalators potentially exceeding $130 million. This agreement sets a record for a player yet to debut in the majors. Emerson, the No. 7-ranked prospect in baseball, had a strong 2025 season, hitting 16 homers with 78 RBIs and an .842 OPS across three minor-league levels. He was selected 22nd overall in the 2023 draft.
