NFL Considers Capping Individual Player Contracts

As the NFL prepares to negotiate a new Collective Bargaining Agreement, it aims to extend the regular season from 17 to 18 games and increase international games from 10 to 16. Additionally, the league may propose a salary cap on individual player earnings, similar to the NBA’s max contracts, which could redistribute wealth to less-paid players. However, this could provoke backlash from star quarterbacks, who currently have minimal representation in union leadership. Their increased involvement in union matters may be prompted if their earnings are threatened.
