The Philadelphia Phillies retained veteran catcher Garrett Stubbs, who cleared waivers and accepted an assignment to Triple A Lehigh Valley, becoming their third-string catcher behind J.T. Realmuto and Rafael Marchan. Stubbs, out of options this year, was available for trade but opted to stay with the organization, motivated by a $575,000 minor-league salary. To enhance his versatility, he will also play left field and third base while with Lehigh Valley. Stubbs previously served as Realmuto’s primary backup from 2022 to 2024.
