Atle Lie McGrath, the slalom standings leader, finished sixth after the first run of the final World Cup skiing race in Hafjell, Norway. Olympic champion Loic Meillard led the race, with McGrath 1.65 seconds behind. Despite a significant points advantage over his closest rival, Lucas Pinheiro Braathen, McGrath lost control in the final run after straddling a gate. Marco Odermatt secured his fifth consecutive overall title prior to the finals.
